History of Poojapitiya Divisional Secretariat
The Poojapitiya Additional Divisioal Assistant Government Agents Division was Created in Year 1982 by seperating Thirty Seven (37) Divisions that Originally belonged to Harispaththuwa Divisional Assistant Government Agents Division. In accordance with the Government Gazette Notice dated 01/01/1998 It functioned as the Poojapitiya Divisioanl Assisstant Government Agents Division in a hall of the Batugoda Govi Jana Seva Centre. Later on, a part of the land originally aquired for the Batugoda Govi Jana Seva Centre was obtained and the current building was constructed on it, the Office was moved to that building in Year 1996. The number of Grama Seva Divisions changed in to 67 in the Grama Seva Division amendment in Year 1996 and the Office was turned in to a Divisional Secerariat Division under centralization of Administration in Year 1992. Mrs. Chandralatha Ubesekara had assumed duties as the first Divisional Secretary of the Division on 18.08.1992.
