පූජාපිටිය ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම්තුමිය ගේ මග පෙන්වීම යටතේ ජන ක්‍රීඩා ජනගත කිරීමේ අරමුණින් පූජාපිටිය ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම් කාර්යාලයේ සංස්කෘතික අංශය මගින් සංවිධානය කරන ලද බක් මහ උළෙල 2026/04/09 වන දින ගොඩහේන සංස්කෘතික මධ්‍යස්ථාන ක්‍රීඩා පිටියේ දී පවත්වන ලදී.

A "Bak Maha Ulela" or a New Year Festival, organized by the Cultural Division of the Poojapitiya Divisional Secretariat with the aim of popularizing folk sports under the guidance of the Poojapitiya Divisional Secretary, was held on 09/04/2026 at the Play ground of the Godahena Cultural Center

Provision of lands under the 'Rebuilding Sri Lanka' program for the resettlement of families whose homes were fully damaged by Cyclone Ditwah and for families identified as high-risk for landslides, and provision of compensation for business losses, and provision of financial grants for the construction of houses and for restoration of businesses, took place this afternoon (06th) at the Niyangoda School Playground in Arambekade, under the patronage of the Honorable President.

At this event, compensation was provided to about 150 families in the Divisional Secretariat Divisions of Poojapitiya, Hatharaliyadda, Thumpane, Yatinuwara, and Harispattuwa.

Further, compensation was also provided to 68 beneficiaries in total which included 39 businessmen, for the recovery of industries and 29 families in total in the Poojapitiya Divisional Secretariat Division.The compensation was provided in the following manner

2 compensation grants of 50 lakhs each for the purchase of a new house for fully damaged houses.

 07 compensation grants of 20 lakhs each as the first installment for the construction of a new house for fully damaged houses or houses under high risk.

20 compensation grants of 3 lakhs each as the first installment under the provision of 5 lakhs without assessment for partial house damage

39 one-time grants of 2 lakhs each to restore businesses registered with the Ministry of Industries

The Independence Day celebrations of the Poojapitiya Divisional Secretariat Division was held at the Mullegama Priyadarshanarama Viharaya in Abathenna, in conjunction with the 78th Independence Day celebrations held today under the theme " Rebuild Sri Lanka".

The program, which was held under the patronage of the Poojapitiya Divisional Secretary Mrs. Shalika Deegala, was attended by the Honorable Chairman Thero of the Poojapitiya Shasanarakshaka Bala Mandala, the Maha Sangha, the Poojapitiya Police, the Pradeshiya Sabha, the Batugoda Agrarian Service Center, the Mullegama Samurdhi Bank, Officials of the Poojapitiya Divisional Secretariat, and the Residents of Mullegama Area.

The programs, which consisted of a patriotic dance by the children of the Godahena Cultural Center, ended with a Tree planting program and a Kurakkan Keda Dansala.
