The commencement of official duties for the New Year 2026 at the Poojapitiya Divisional Secretariat was held on the 01st of January 2026 at the office premises.
This inaugural ceremony, held under the patronage of Divisional Secretary Ms. Shalika Deegala, included the ceremonial boiling of milk to mark the New Year, hoisting of the National Flag, singing the National Anthem, remembrance of National Heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country, observance of a moment of silence in memory of those who lost their lives due to disasters, the exchange of New Year greetings, and the Staff taking the Public Service Pledge for the New Year.
